Portfolio Review Webinar with Deborah Warren, East-West Literary

Date(s) - 06/17/2021
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

We have a fantastic opportunity for illustrators! Want to know what a top-industry agent looks for in a portfolio? Want to see how your work measures up and how to make it stronger? This event is for you.

Deborah Warren with East–West Literary, a boutique agency representing award-winning and best-selling authors and illustrators, will provide a written critique of each participating illustrator’s portfolio. For follow up, Deborah will lead a webinar to highlight the most important qualities she seeks in a portfolio, cover how each illustrator’s art aligns with children’s publishing marketability, and share her vision as an artists’ and authors’ rep.

Deborah Warren founded East West Literary Agency in 2000, after 17 years at Harcourt, and has a strong background in sales and marketing. She’s a strategist, incorporating long-term goals to help E/W clients not only grow a career, but to flourish within that career. With over 40 years’ of experience in the publishing industry, and over 20 years at the helm of the Agency, Deborah not only represents authors and illustrators of picture books including Jim Averbeck (of the “Sophia” trilogy launched by One Word for Sophia), the Literary Trust of Anna Dewdney (the Llama Llama franchise), NYT-bestselling Gianna Marino (illustrator of Chelsea Clinton’s Don’t Let Them Disappear), Cook prize winning illustrator Dow Phumiruk (Maya Lin/Counting on Katherine), Sibert-honoree and Sendak-fellow Antoinette Portis (Now/Not A Box), and Audrey and Don Wood (The Napping House), she represents authors and illustrators—both debut and established—in the board book, concept, novelty, diverse, non-fiction, middle-grade and young adult markets.
