Ready, Set, Critique!
April 16-18, 2021 Face-to-face critiques via Zoom
Ready, Set, Critique! is an opportunity for you to have your work critiqued by an industry professional. We have a fabulous list of agents, editors, and art directors ready to give you feedback on your work. You will have a 15-minute face-to-face meeting with your critiquer; time slots will be determined at registration.

Portfolio Review Webinar with Deborah Warren
Thursday, June 17, 2021 Deborah Warren from East–West Literary, will lead a webinar to highlight the most important qualities she seeks in a portfolio, cover how each illustrator’s art aligns with children’s publishing marketability, and share her vision as an artists’ and authors’ representative. Plus, illustrators and author/illustrators can sign up for a written portfolio critique from Deborah.


Writing from the Inside Out Picture Book Workshop
Begins July 10, 2021 Nine-month virtual workshop
Want to write a picture book but not sure where to start? Unsure how to think in pictures while writing your text? Have lots of ideas but not sure which ones will work best? In this virtual workshop, you will dive deep into picture book writing and learn to create them from the inside out. Includes exclusive submission opportunities and culminates with optional retreat with agent Jennifer March Soloway.

Shop Talk

Join other members of our region to chat about all things kidlit! We meet weekly via Zoom to talk shop, and our conversations run the gamut. Each meeting typically has a short overview of some kidlit topic, followed by time to socialize and support each other in our journeys toward our publication goals. Shop Talk is a great way to get to know other kidlit creatives!
