Wednesday Shop Talk
4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (Central)
During a recent Zoom meeting, the Advisory Board rediscovered the joy of talking kidlit. After weeks of isolation, it was liberating—and fun—to get together to chat, and we want that for all of our members, as well. So we have created weekly Shop Talk gatherings to allow anyone who wants to participate to join the conversation. These will have a short overview of some kidlit topic (see the schedule below), followed by time to socialize.
These will continue after we are able to gather in person again (with an adjusted day and time); it’s a great way for all of us—no matter where we live—to be part of the community. (We have incorporated Hot Topics into this new format; we hope this will be their last incarnation!)
How they work:
Each Tuesday, members will get an email reminder with a link to that week’s meeting. Click the link during the meeting time and you’re good to go. If you haven’t used Zoom before, you will want to watch this video on downloading Zoom (you need an app to join the meetings) and this one on setting up your audio and video. You do NOT need to create a Zoom account to join our Shop Talk or any other Zoom event.
During our first Shop Talk on April 22, we will be available starting at 3:30 to help new Zoom users trouble-shoot. All other meet-ups will start at 4:00.
Why should you attend?
Because they’re fun. You might learn something. It’s an escape from real life for an hour (and is late enough in the day to be happy hour, if you choose).
Not enough? Each time you attend, your name will be entered in our monthly drawing for a free webinar. The more you attend, the more likely you will be to win.
